The Concussion Corner Academy® Story

I founded The Concussion Corner Academy® (CCA) after I suffered my own brain injury in 2013. During my recovery, I identified several gaps in the system. I experienced a unique dichotomy of being both doctor and patient undergoing up-to 14 hours of rehabilitation a week for 14 months. During that time, I learned all about loss, the importance of community, and the strength to push through in the areas that I was able to after my injury.

Since my concussion that has resulted in persistent symptoms, the healthcare community has greeted me with implicit trust across disciplines to promote thought leadership in the rehabilitative community in order to disseminate and instill compassionate care for concussion patients of today.

The goal has always been to promote healing, decrease suffering, increase support, and deliver it with kindness to an often mismanaged concussion patient population. CCA is devoted to a mission-driven purpose of supporting traditionally underserved patient communities and underfunded non-profit organizations in the brain injury sector. We believe by providing thoughtfully curated education, training, and support, one clinician at a time, we will serve many.

In my career and recovery, I’ve learned that education and a supportive inclusive community are a privilege. And with that in mind, our philosophy at CCA is Teach One. Serve Many.

Thank you for stopping by The Concussion Corner Academy®. I look forward to inspiring you to be a brain injury champion in all realms of treatment, advocacy, and support.

Dr. Jessica B. Schwartz, Founder

Our Non-Profit Partnership

Similar to the origins of Concussion Corner Academy®, the founders of Headway Foundation, Paige Decker, Josephine Pucci, and Danny Otto, have each lived and fought through concussion battles.

We chose our friends at Headway Foundation because our visions are aligned and we are both organizations focused on improving the lives of concussion patients of today. It can take a village and we want to support Headway Foundation’s program focusing on Awareness, Aid, and Advocacy with their #NewTough campaign.
